As neither candidate received a majority of the vote in the special election to fill the unexpired term of House District 68, a runoff will be held between Republican candidates David Spiller and Craig Carter. Spiller led with 44% of the vote over opponent Carter with 18% of the vote, but did not reach the required over 50% majority. HD 68 was vacated late last year when former Rep. Drew Springer won election to the Texas Senate.
