Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) released a report on the economic burden of homelessness in Dallas and Collin counties. The study estimates the total cost associated with homelessness in 2023 to be $198,098,161. Other findings form the report include:

  • The largest cost drivers include hospitalizations ($49.4m) and medical treatment ($60.4m)
  • A possible cost savings to Dallas and Collin counties of $51.3m via the Housing Forward rehousing program, based on funded amounts versus estimated costs of homelessness
