The Texas Election Source is reporting that in the 15 largest counties first day early voting figures (in person and by mail), Republican turnout was almost 20,000 votes ahead of 2010, a nearly 70% increase in first-day voters, and almost quadruple the 2006 figure. Democratic primary turnout was up 15% from 2010.

- Galveston up 167%
- Tarrant up 128%
- Montgomery up 120%
- Bexar up 113%
- Denton up 111%
- Hidalgo up 80%
- Cameron up 48%
- Harris up 36%
- Collin up 31%
- Williamson up 25%
- Nueces up 20%
- Fort Bend up 5%
- El Paso up 1%
Only Travis was down, falling 31% below 2010.
