Today Gov. Greg Abbott announced a special session of the Texas Legislature to begin July 18, 2017. The issue on the call at this time is Sunset legislation that failed to pass during the 85th – this will be the only item on the call until it is passed out of the legislature. Abbott said after the sunset legislation passes he will then add 19 items to the call. Some of the 19 items will include but not limited to the following: property tax reform legislation, bathroom legislation, school choice for certain special education needs, and creating the Texas Commission on School Finance Reform.
