The Texas Comptroller has issued a set of guidelines for FY 2016 debt reporting. Pursuant to Local Government Code §140.008, political subdivisions must annually compile debt obligation data for public access within 210 days of the end of their fiscal year in 2016 and within 180 days of the end of every fiscal year thereafter.

Certain political subdivisions, including counties, cities, school districts, junior college districts, and special purpose districts, are required to post their information online either by reporting their debt information to the Comptroller for posting or by posting that information to their own websites.

Water Districts are required to submit either an affidavit of financial dormancy, an audit, or an annual financial report.
