The likely GOP pick-ups include*:

  • SD 10 – Konni Burton (R) 52%, Libby Willis (D) 45% (with 85% of the precincts in)
  • HD 23 – Wayne Faircloth (R) 55%, Susan Criss (D) 45% (all precincts reporting)
  • HD 117 – Rick Galindo (R) 53%, Philip Cortez (D-Inc.) 47% (with 98% of precincts)
  • HD 144 – Gilbert Pena (R) 51%, Mary Ann Perez (D-Inc.) 49% (with 97% of precincts)
  • CD 23 –Will Hurd (R) 50%, Pete Gallego (D – Inc.) 48% (with 97% of precincts)

All other statewide, congressional, legislative and SBOE seats will be won by the party currently holding the seat.

If the unofficial results from the Texas Secretary of State website hold, there will be 8 freshman in the Texas Senate and 26 freshman in the Texas House for the 84th Session.
