The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently awarded $600,000 to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to help support the Galveston Bay Estuary Program’s Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan which works to restore disappearing coastal habitats of the estuary through tasks outlined the program’s annual workplan. Established in 1989, the Galveston Bay Estuary Program is and is a non-regulatory program administered by the TCEQ and is one of two estuary programs in Texas.
