The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) released its final Seasonal Assessment of Resource Adequacy (SARA) for fall and the region is expected to have sufficient installed generating capacity to serve forecasted peak demands with a historically typical amount of generation outages. Based on the results of this study, even an extreme higher-than-normal number of forced generation outages occurring during a period of unusually high demand would not be expected to result in insufficient resources available to serve those demands.

Wind generation resources continue to count at 8.7 percent of nameplate capacity in this assessment. ERCOT stakeholder committees are considering alternative methods of estimating the capacity availability of wind, such as using historical operational availability. Capacity ratings for other generation resources are higher in the fall due to the effects of moderate ambient temperatures.

For the fall season, no changes in unit capacity are expected due to drought conditions. ERCOT continues to monitor the persistent drought conditions throughout Texas.
