On January 20:
- The House Committee on Higher Education will be meeting to discuss current issues in Texas higher education as well as to consider 60x30TX, the new higher education strategic plan for the state.
- The House Select Committee on Transportation Planning will be meeting to receive updates from TxDOT and Comptroller estimates regarding new revenue for TxDOT from recent Proposition 1 and 7.
- The House Committee on Urban Affairs will meet to discuss cybersecurity as it relates to municipalities in the state.
On January 21, the Joint Interim Committee to Study Border Security will meet to hear invited testimony on the status of the implementation of House Bill 11 (84R).
On January 22, the Senate Veteran Affairs & Military Installations Subcommittee on Border Security will hold a hearing to discuss the implications of sanctuary city policies across the state.
On January 25, the Health and Human Services Transition Oversight Board will meet to receive updates regarding the Health and Human Services Enterprise consolidation.
On January 26:
- The Senate Committee on State Affairs will hold a hearing to discuss the implementation of open carry legislation and campus carry legislation.
- The Senate Committee on Business & Commerce will meet to study financial exploitation of Texas’ aging population and will also discuss issues surrounding the collection process for delinquent property taxes.
- The Senate Committee on Finance will meet to study the ongoing efforts toward coordination of behavioral health services.
- The House Committee on Culture, Recreation and Tourism will hold a hearing to hear invited testimony on all interim charges.
On January 27:
- The Senate Committee on Transportation will hold a hearing to evaluate the state’s Vehicle Inspection program and Driver Responsibility program.
- The Senate Select Committee on Property Tax Reform & Relief will meet to study potential improvements to the property tax process and options to reduce the tax burden on property owners.
