Harris County Democratic Precinct Chairs have selected State Rep. Borris Miles (D-Houston) as the candidate who will replace Sen. Rodney Ellis on the November ballot for SD 13. Ellis, a 26 year veteran of the Texas Senate, has been chosen by Precinct Chairs to replace Commissioner El Franco Lee (who passed away in January) on the ballot for the Harris County Commissioners Court. In order to take Lee's place on the ballot, Sen. Ellis must withdraw his name from the general election ballot for SD 13.

In similar fashion, Miles, a sitting House member, must withdraw his name from the ballot for HD 142 requiring precinct chairs to meet yet again and select a replacement on the ballot for his House seat. This must be done before ballots can be printed prior to the November 8 general election.

Rep. Miles will be running this fall without Republican opposition.
