President Barack Obama signed an executive order Thursday cutting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by the federal government in his measure, “Planning for Sustainability in the Next Decade.” Obama’s executive order also directs the government to ramp up use of renewable energy sources to 30% of the federal government’s consumption. The Administration also hosted a roundtable with large Federal suppliers to discuss the benefits of their GHG reduction targets or to make their first-ever corporate commitments to disclose emissions and set new reduction goals.
