On Nov. 12, Thompson & Horton LLP announced that Wallace B. Jefferson, former Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court, is joining the Fort Bend ISD Plaintiff Group’s legal team as co-counsel. Chief Justice Jefferson served on the Court from 2011 through 2013, and as Chief Justice from 2004 through 2013. Chief Justice Jefferson has long been recognized for his appellate expertise—expertise that extends to lawsuits involving Texas public schools. In 1998, he successfully represented Lago Vista ISD in a groundbreaking lawsuit before the United States Supreme Court involving the potential liability of public school districts for school-employee misconduct that was unknown to the district. He also participated in the Texas Supreme Court’s two most recent school finance decisions.

The Fort Bend ISD Plaintiffs Group includes 84 public school districts from across Texas, which collectively are responsible for educating over 1.8 million children.
