Today an additional 29 bills were filed as of 5:30 p.m. bringing the total of bills filed for the first called Special Session to 134 bills and resolutions.
 
Bills can be filed that are not related to the call but what legislation is referred, set for a hearing and brought to the chamber floor will be subject to the Texas Constitution & both House and Senate rules. Generally, a bill will not progress far if the subject is not going to be on the call. Items on the Governor’s call to date include Sunset Call and Supplemental Call.

  • HB 115 (G. Bonnen) Relating to deferred payment of ad valorem taxes for certain persons serving in the United States armed forces.
  • HB 116 (T. Uresti) Relating to installment payments of ad valorem taxes imposed on residence homesteads and certain property of disabled veterans and their surviving spouses.
  • HB 119 (Shine) Relating to the authority of the governing body of a taxing unit other than a school district to adopt an exemption from ad valorem taxation of a portion, expressed as a dollar amount, of the appraised value of an individual's residence homestead and the authority of the governing body of certain taxing units that have adopted such an exemption to reduce the amount of or repeal certain other exemptions.
  • HB 120 (Shine) Relating to the effect of a sale of property on the tax lien on the property to secure the payment of taxes, penalties, and interest imposed on the property as a result of the addition to the appraisal roll of property or appraised value that was erroneously exempted in a prior year.
