The Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations will hold an organizational hearing on Dec. 2 and will conduct a preliminary overview interim charges relating to: the processes used by home rule municipalities to adopt ordinances, rules, and regulations, including those initiated by petition and voter referendum; review natural disaster preparedness planning and coordination; and examine ways to improve government accountability in elections regarding the issuance of public debt (invited testimony only).

The Senate Subcommittee on Border Security will meet on Dec. 3, for an organizational hearing on topics that will be focused on during the interim, including preliminary discussions on sanctuary cities (invited testimony only).

The Senate Committee on Education will meet on Dec. 7 to take up interim charges relating to the approval, expansion and revocation of public charter schools in Texas; and inappropriate teacher-student relationships (invited and public testimony).

The Senate Committee on Agriculture, Water & Rural Affairs will meet Dec. 8 to consider four interim charges related to agricultural liens, windblown and waterborne litter, reduction of agricultural diseases and pests, and the Department of Agriculture’s Market Development Services (invited testimony only).

On Dec. 10, the House Committee on State Affairs will take up their interim charge related to state and local laws applicable to undocumented immigrants (invited testimony only).

The House Appropriations Committee will meet on Dec. 10 to take up invited testimony only regarding the Texas Child Support Enforcement System (invited testimony only).

The House Committee on Human Services will meet on Dec. 15 to receive an update regarding Syrian Refugee resettlement (invited testimony only) and to take up the interim charge relating to aging Texans (invited and public testimony).

The Health and Human Services Transition Oversight Committee will meet on Jan. 25 to hear invited testimony only.

The Senate Committee on State Affairs will meet on Jan. 26 to consider the interim charge relating to the implementation of open and campus carry legislation (invited testimony only).

The Senate Committee on Finance will meet on Jan. 26 to take up the interim charge relating to the state’s progress in coordinating behavioral health services and expenditures across state government (invited and public testimony).
