Commissioner of Education Michael Williams issued the following statement regarding issues related to flooding in various parts of the state:

“I want to assure superintendents who have closed their districts today due to flooding and other weather-related issues that a waiver for this missed instructional day will be granted. The Texas Education Agency staff is also ready to assist those districts that may need to request additional attendance waivers beyond today. I urge superintendents to stay focused on addressing the immediate needs of their students, staff and communities. The waiver requests can be submitted after the immediate crisis has passed. We will work with you.”
