It is with a heavy heart that we report State Rep. Edmund Kuempel, R-Seguin, died this morning of an apparent heart attack.

Kuempel took office in 1983. He chaired the Licensing and Administrative Procedures Committee.

At the end of the 2009 legislative session, the HillCo Client News Flash had reported of Kuempel having a heart attack collapsing in a Capitol elevator. He made a full recovery and has been active this year.

Legislators have already begun releasing statements on the news of his passing, many expressed Kuempel was a good friend, dedicated to Texas, and the Texas House, and will be greatly missed.

We at HillCo Partners mourn the passing of Rep. Kuempel. Our sincere condolences go out to the Kuempel family.
