On February 18, 2011, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) released Draft Voluntary Land-Based Wind Energy Guidelines. Comments on these draft guidelines should be submitted to USFWS by the end of day on May 19, 2011.
On February 22, 2011, the USFWS released a proposal (PDF) to revise critical habitat designation in Bexar County, Texas, for nine invertebrates under the Endangered Species Act. Comments on this proposal should be submitted to USFWS by April 25, 2011, and requests for public hearings should be submitted by April 8, 2011.
At the last meeting of the Interagency Task Force on Economic Growth and Endangered Species on February 22, 2011, USFWS discussed the steps the agency is taking to review the status of the lesser prairie-chicken as part of the initial stages of the listing process for this species.
