Chair Jan Newton of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) board of directors has resigned. Newton said she stepped down for personal reasons. “I appreciate the opportunity to work with you,” Newton told board members. “I think ERCOT is a great organization, and it is making great strides. Keep up the good work.” Vice-chair Michehl Gent will assume the chair duties until a replacement is found.

ERCOT manages about 85 percent of Texas’ power grid and is already without a permanent chief executive after Bob Kahn left the job in November.
