The Travis County officials have tallied all provisional and overseas ballots, State Rep. Donna Howard, D-Austin, has defeated Republican challenger Dan Neil for state representative in District 48 by 16 votes. Howard won with 25,026 votes to Neil’s 25,010.
The final Travis County canvass will be completed tomorrow but the results won’t be official until the governor makes the final count sometime between November 17th and December 2nd.
The deadline to request a recount in writing to the Texas Secretary of State is the second day after the final canvass but a recount could be requested anytime before then according to an official with the Texas Secretary of State.
