The Pharmaceutical Disposal Advisory Group (PDAG) has met four times this year gathering information and data on the current methods of disposal for unused pharmaceuticals. Their next meeting dates on May 27th and June 24th will be open to all stakeholders to present any other topics of interest or concern before the PDAG begins compiling information for its final report. The first draft will be completed by the end of August but must then undergo the TCEQ internal review process. The final report will be completed and sent to the legislature on December 1, 2010.

The Pharmaceutical Disposal Advisory Group has been formed to obtain information required for the TCEQ to adequately respond to Senate Bill 1757, 81st Legislative Session, 2009. The bill requires TCEQ to study the current methods of disposal and make recommendations for how consumers, health care providers, and others may dispose of unused pharmaceuticals so that they do not enter the wastewater system.
