The HIE strategic and operational plans for the State of Texas were submitted to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) on September 10th. One of the three strategies outlined in the plans is to support the development of statewide HIE through a Local HIE Grant Program. The purpose of this program is to provide partial funding for planning, development, and operations of local or regional HIE networks.
On October 5th as the Texas Health Services Authority (THSA) was waiting for formal approval from ONC for the strategic and operational plans, THSA prepared a draft Request for Application (RFA) for the Local HIE Grant Program and posted it on the their web site at: www.thsa.org/media/1473/thsa_local_hie_grant_rfa_v10-05-2010.pdf
The THSA Board of Directors next scheduled meeting is for November 18, 2010.
