Tonight House lawmakers were about to vote on SB 332 – Fraser/Ritter – relating to the vested ownership interest in groundwater beneath the surface and the right to produce that groundwater when there were several points of order called on the bill; all were overruled. The committee substitute SB 332 was then passed to third reading in the House with one technical amendment on May 23.
It should also be noted that language from the House version of SB 332 was also amended into HB 725 – Callegari/Fraser – relating to the operation, powers, and duties of certain water districts which passed out of the Senate on May 21.
