On May 5th Governor Rick Perry appointed Joyce King of Plano to the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas Oversight Committee for a term to expire Jan. 31, 2013. The committee guides the work of the institute, which is responsible for awarding grants over the next 10 years to expedite innovation in cancer research, attract and expand cancer prevention and treatment research capabilities.

    

On May 5th  Perry named Lloyd Potter of San Antonio State Demographer for a term to expire at the pleasure of the governor. The State Demographer’s Office distributes census information, population estimates and projections for the state, and information from federal, state and other government sources.

     

On May 4th Perry reappointed seven members to the Texas Medical Board District Review committees for terms to expire Jan. 15, 2016. Committee members evaluate medical practice and professional competency and make recommendations on investigations conducted by the board. On May 4th Perry appointed Kimberly Shambley of Dallas to the Texas Real Estate Research Advisory Committee for a term to expire Jan. 31, 2015. The committee advises the Texas Real Estate Research Center at Texas A&M University, which conducts real estate related research based on Texans’ needs.

      

On May 3rd Perry named Will “Bill” Hubbard of Tioga chair of the Grayson County Regional Mobility Authority for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2012. Regional mobility authorities help accelerate development and financing for critical transportation projects.
