Gov. Rick Perry has appointed James Clancy of Portland and Thomas Ramsey of Mt. Vernon to the Texas Ethics Commission for terms to expire Nov. 19, 2013. The commission administers and enforces laws concerning political contributions and expenditures, political advertising, lobbyist activities and the conduct of state officers and employees. Clancy is an attorney and partner at Branscomb P.C. Ramsay is a licensed real estate broker and owner of Tom Ramsay Real Estate.

 

Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Samuel “Phil” Wilson of Austin to the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas Oversight Committee for a term to expire Jan. 31, 2015. The committee guides the work of the institute, which is responsible for awarding an estimated $3 billion in grants over the next 10 years to expedite innovation in cancer research, attract and expand cancer prevention and treatment research capabilities. Wilson is senior vice president of public affairs for Luminant and former Texas secretary of state.

 

Gov. Rick Perry has reappointed Margaret K. Bentley of DeSoto to the Texas Physician Assistant Board for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2015. The board establishes and maintains standards of excellence used to regulate physician assistants and ensure quality healthcare for Texans. Bentley is a retired chief operating officer/chief financial officer for Autism Treatment Centers of Texas.

 

Gov. Rick Perry has appointed William “Bill” Masterson of Guthrie to the Brazos River Authority Board of Directors for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2013. The authority is responsible for developing and conserving the surface water resources of the Brazos River Basin. Masterson is a rancher and a member of the National Cutting Horse Association and the Texas Southwest Cattle Raisers Association.

 

Gov. Rick Perry has named Patricia Bryant of Amarillo as chair and appointed Dale Brock of Wichita Falls to the Texas Commission on the Arts. The commission encourages appreciation for fine arts in Texas and acts in an advisory capacity regarding the construction and remodeling of state buildings and works of art.

·         Bryant is owner of Patty A. Bryant Communications. She will remain chair for a term to expire at the pleasure of the governor.

·         Brock is the North Texas regional senior relationship manager of Citibank. His term will expire Aug. 31, 2013.
