Although some have predicted that next session’s budget shortfall could be as high as $20 billion, Texas Comptroller Susan Combs is calling the predictions gloomy, “way out there,” according to an article in the Dallas Morning News.

 Although she said the estimates of a deficit of $10 billion to $11 billion are reasonable during the next session, she also noted that she sees signs the number could be well down in the single digits by January.

 The Dallas Morning News article reported that Combs believes consumer confidence will rebound.
