On March 25th the Board of Directors for the Texas Health Services Authority (THSA) met to discuss the recent award of $28.8 million to Texas under the State Health Information Exchange Cooperative Agreement.

The Health Information Technology Extension program will be led by Michael Colson of Computer Task Group (CTG). The start-up model must be in place by September 1, 2010 to be presented to the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC).

Since there is concern that the $28.8 million will not cover all expenses, board members agree that additional grant money should be sought to help fund this initiative. Board members were also urged to seek additional funding through legislature.

The next board meeting will be on April 22nd.
