Governor Greg Abbott has sent a letter to U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner volunteering the State of Texas to participate in the HUD pilot program that seeks to eliminate fraud in federal affordable housing programs. Per Governor Abbott’s letter, the State will work with HUD through TDHCA to develop and implement fraud prevention measures under the rental assistance integrity pilot program.
Earlier this month, Governor Abbott directed the Texas Workforce Commission and the Health and Human Services Commission to investigate any potential child care funding fraud in Texas, review and implement anti-fraud measures, and submit completed investigations to federal or state prosecutors as appropriate.
