On September 13, President Trump signed a new executive order stating that Medicare should not pay more for certain prescription drugs than the lowest price paid by other members of the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OCED). The newly-issued order directs U.S. Health and Human Services to implement a rulemaking plan to test payment models for Medicare based on this price for certain high-cost Part B and Part D drugs.
