The State Board of Education is working to create a new Long-Range Plan for Public Education, which is expected to establish goals for Texas public schools through the year 2030. Public comments are being solicited which include questions on:
- Desired outcomes of public education;
- Strategies Texas public schools could use to prepare, recruit, and retain effective teachers;
- Rate the job Texas public schools do in providing students with equitable access to various supports and opportunities;
- Rate the job Texas public schools are doing in meeting the needs of various student groups and parents;
- Most important actions Texas schools can take to increase parent engagement and empowerment; and
- Strategies Texas schools could use to increase student engagement and empowerment.
Texans can offer their input by completing the survey in English or Spanish. Comments can be made until March 2nd at 5 p.m.
The steering committee will recommend long-term goals for Texas schools and will identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges of the system.
