The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has approved the Texas Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Plan for implementation and clearing FY2022 federal funds from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act for obligation. The plan currently identifies $407.13 million across 5 years for EV charging infrastructure throughout the state, including direct funding and maintenance costs, with 55 charging locations planned for year one.
Governor Greg Abbott previously advised state agency heads to not sign federal funding agreements that “needlessly constrain” the state, commit the state to ongoing costs without an appropriation, or require agencies to implement federal policy contrary to law or policy of the state.
