Upcoming Deadlines
March 10th (60th day) – Deadline for the unrestricted filing of bills and joint resolutions other than local bills, emergency appropriations, and bills that have been declared an emergency by the governor.
Bill filing continues to break previous session records, as of February 10 there were just over 2500 filings, compared to approximately 1800 in the 84th during the same time frame.
Upcoming Hearings
- House Appropriations and Senate Finance have appointed subcommittees (see below for more details).
- House Appropriations Subcommittees on Article II; Article III, Article I, IV & V and Article VI, VII & VIII have already posted hearings to meet on January 20 at 7:30am – meetings on these articles will continue January 21, 22 and 23.
- House County Affairs will meet on February 20 to hear invited testimony from Dr. Steve Murdock, the first Texas State Demographer who will share his research regarding the implications of a growing state.
- House Human Services will meet on February 20 to take up HB 4, HB 5 and HB 6.
- House Public Education will meet on February 21 to hear invited testimony on issues related to public education.
- House Public Health will meet on February 21 to hear invited testimony on issues related to public health.
- House Insurance will meet on February 21 to hear invited testimony from the Texas Department of Insurance and the Office of Public Insurance Counsel.
- House Urban Affairs will meet on February 21 to hear invited testimony.
- Senate Transportation will meet on February 22 and hear invited testimony from the Texas Department of Transportation, the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
