Today is Sine Die, the last day of the 84th Regular Session. Today’s deadline allows corrections only in the House and Senate.

Twenty days following Sine Die, June 21, is the last day Governor Abbott can sign or veto bills passed during the regular session. On August 31 bills without specific effective dates (that could not become effective immediately) become law.

The Texas Legislative Statistics show at this point that out of 6,276 House and Senate bills filed, 1,316 House and Senate bills have passed. Details on final statistics, including a spotlight on legislation passed out of the 84th Regular Session, and an update on bill signings will be published in the following weeks.
