Diana Poteat Stallings Hobby, the wife of former Texas Lt. Gov. William P. Hobby Jr., died Friday, July 4, at the age of 83 according to a statement from her family.

She served on the boards of many Houston cultural institutions and devoted time to the conservancy of the environment. Former Texas Gov. Mark White told the Houston Chronicle, "She was such an accomplished person, it is hard to imagine in one lifetime any person achieving the things she did."

She is survived by her husband, their four children and their spouses, and numerous grandchildren. Services for will be held Tuesday at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church in Houston.
