Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott is calling on congressional leaders to legislatively restrict the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from regulating greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act. Abbott writes that on six separate occasions, the EPA has issued legally flawed regulations in an attempt to unilaterally regulate gases such as carbon dioxide. As the State’s chief legal official, Attorney General Abbott is challenging all six regulations in the federal courts of appeals.
Multiple members of Congress have introduced legislation – or expressed intent to introduce legislation – that will limit or block EPA’s ability to regulate greenhouse gases. In Attorney General Abbott’s letter, he urges congressional leaders to act quickly on these proposals.
