With more than 30 primary runoff races held on May 22, the only statewide runoff was the Democratic race between Lupe Valdez, who won with 53% of the vote, over Andrew White. There was a total of 17 runoffs for the U.S. House and 15 for the Texas Legislature. The results from the Primary Runoff can be found below for incumbents and open seats in the Texas Legislature. 2 legislative incumbents were defeated:

Republican
HD 54 – Brad Buckley captured 58% of the vote (4,445 votes) over Incumbent Scott Cosper (42% – 3,185)

 

Democratic

HD 37 – Alex Dominguez captured 57% of the vote (3,287 votes) over Incumbent Rene Oliveira (43% – 2,509)

 

Texas Legislature Open Seats

Republican

HD 4 – Keith Bell received 58.9% of the vote over Stuart Spitzer

HD 8 – Cody Harris received 54.4% over Thomas McNutt

HD 13 – Ben Lenman received 57.3% over Jill Wolfskill

HD 62 – Reggie Smith received 71.2% over Brent Lawson

HD 121 – Steve Allison received 57.5% over Matt Beebe

 

Democratic

HD 45 – Erin Zwiener received 51.4% over Rebecca Bell-Meterau

HD 109 – Carl Sherman received 63.7% over Deshaundra Lockhart Jones
