December jobs data released by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) shows:

  • Unemployment Rate: 4.2%
  • Total Non-Farm Employment: 14,318,700
  • Jobs Change Over the Year: 284,200
  • Annual Growth Rate: 2.0%

December marks the twelfth consecutive month of growth for Texas’ civilian labor force, which achieved another new record high of 15,575,900 after adding 39,900 people over the month. Over the year, Texas’ civilian labor force has added 445,300 people. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Texas registered at 4.2 percent.

 

FY 2025 JET Grants Application Period Closing Soon

The period to apply for a 2025 Jobs & Education for Texas (JET) grant closes Friday, January 31, 2025, at 10:00AM CST. The grant applies to those interested in funding equipment for a new or expanded CTE program.
