The public comment period is now open for the proposed new social studies TEKS. The public comment period is open until June 15, 2026.
The new social studies TEKS were filed for first reading and authorization at the April State Board of Education (SBOE) meeting. The SBOE is scheduled to consider the proposed new TEKS for second reading and final authorization at its June 2026 meeting, which is also the earliest possible date of adoption.
