The Texas Education Agency has released information regarding the Civics Training Programs. Civics training will begin with elementary campuses in the summer of 2026, followed by training for secondary campuses in the summer of 2027. Elementary campuses are encouraged to designate a teacher who teaches social studies or has strong knowledge of social studies to attend the civics training. As required by TEC §21.4555, each campus must have at least one teacher and one campus administrator attend civics training.

Regional education service centers (ESCs) are responsible for scheduling Civics Training Program sessions for their regions. For information on upcoming training opportunities and to register for training, you can contact your ESC, which can be found on the Civics Training Program webpage.

The original communication from TEA can be found here.
