Governor Greg Abbott announced that the Governor’s Public Safety Office (PSO) has awarded a total of $116 million in grants to the City of Houston and North Central Texas Council of Governments for additional safety and security measures related to FIFA World Cup events. The money was allocated to the Governor’s PSO through the FIFA World Cup Grant Program.
The FIFA World Cup Grant Program was created to provide $625 million in funding to host cities through gubernatorially-designated State Administrative Agencies (SAAs).
