The State Auditor’s Office (SAO) has released an efficiency audit of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The audit identified the following six main areas with inefficiencies:
- Procurement
- Fleet management
- Print Center operations (shared services)
- Technology management
- Workforce management, including the reliance on contractors and consultants
- Departmental services, including inconsistent travel booking and reimbursement practices
