Governor Greg Abbott issued a proclamation which announced November 3, 2026, as the special election date to fill Texas Senate District 22. The seat was vacated by Senator Brian Birdwell.
To get their name placed on the ballot, candidates must file their applications with the Secretary of State no later than 6:00 pm, August 20, 2026.
