The LBB has published an infographic of EMS & Trauma Care Funding reviewing details on the program, revenues and appropriations. The Driver Responsibility Program (DRP) authorizes the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to assess surcharges to an individual for certain traffic offenses. Surcharges are administrative fees based on the number of points or convictions on an individual’s driving record, and are assessed annually for three years. The DRP is estimated to generate $142.4 million or 47.5% of all EMS and trauma revenue during the 2018-19 biennium.
