Governor Greg Abbott has named Ruth Ruggero Hughs chair of the Texas Workforce Commission. The commission is charged with overseeing and providing workforce development services to employers and job seekers in Texas.
Ruth Ruggero Hughs of Austin has served as the Commissioner Representing Employers at the Texas Workforce Commission since July 2015. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the New Jersey State Bar. Hughs is chair of the Advisory Council on Cultural Affairs. Hughs received a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers Camden School of Law, and she earned a certificate in Leader Development at the U.S. Army War College’s National Security Seminar in 2018
