HB 1024 (Geren/Hancock) relating to the pickup and delivery of alcoholic beverages from certain premises for off-premises consumption. Under HB 1024, the “alcohol-to-go,” restaurants with a mixed beverage permit and a food and beverage certificate from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission will be able to sell beer, wine, and cocktails with food orders that are purchased for pickup or delivery, including through third-party delivery companies. HB 1024 was signed by the Governor on 5/12 and is effective immediately.

HB 1518 (Dutton/Seliger) would allow sale of certain alcoholic beverages beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Sundays. The bill would also allow registered hotel guests to consume or possess alcoholic beverages in the hotel bar at any time. HB 1518 was sent to the Governor on 5/31.

HB 1957 (Kuempel/ Buckingham) would require winemakers use appellations of origin or names of specific vineyards only if the wine is produced from grapes or other fruit grown in Texas. HB 1957 was sent to the Governor on 5/28.

HB 2698 (Kuempel/Zaffirini) repeals prohibitions against obstructing the view of the interior of a package store or wine-only package store. HB 2698 was sent to the Governor on 5/22.
