At its open meeting on January 18, 2023, the Railroad Commission (RRC) adopted two rulemakings for Chapter 13 and Chapter 14, the CNG and LNG rules, to revise certain provisions pursuant to Senate Bill 1582 from the 87th Legislature, 2021. Changes include allowing online testing and proctoring services, clarifications on CNG truck driver scope of work, processes for noncompliance complaints, and other changes which bring Chapter 13 and 14 in line with safety rules promulgated for LP Gas in Chapter 9, such as signage, marking, and nameplate requirements.

The adopted rules will be published in the Friday, February 3, 2023, issue of the Texas Register and will become effective on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. For more information, see the RRC rules page here.
