Spotlight on Bills on the Move
SB 4 (Perry), which would require cities to comply with federal immigration law and address law enforcement practice of “sanctuary cities,” was passed out of the Senate as substituted with 7 adopted floor amendments – 20 ayes and 10 nays. SB 4 will now move to the House for further consideration.
 
SB 14 (V. Taylor), the Ethics Reform package and companion bills SB 500 and SB 501 will now move to the House for further consideration. SB 14, as amended, was passed unanimously out of the Senate and will now move to the House for further consideration.
 
Upcoming Hearings
Senate Committee hearings will continue and House Committee hearings will begin now that committee assignments have been made, the latest information on all committee hearings can be found by visiting HillCo’s “Legislative News from Texas.” 

House Appropriations will meet on February 13 at 7:30am. They will also meet on Tuesday, February 14 to hear invited testimony and overviews on several items including: State Contracting, Cyber Security and IT, Sunset Recommendations affecting the budget – among others. 

Education, Medicaid, mental health, Child Protective Services (CPS), border security and transportation will be topics taken up during the House Appropriations February 14 meeting starting at 7:30am.
