Former San Antonio City Councilmember and Texas State Representative Ruth Jones McClendon passed away today, December 19. McClendon served San Antonio-area House District 120 from 1997 until 2016, when she retired due to health concerns. In a statement, Speaker Joe Straus said “She was a person of principle and decency who spoke for those whose voice is too often not heard.”
