Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Ryan Brannan of Austin as commissioner of Workers' Compensation at the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI), effective Aug. 1, 2014, for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2015. TDI's Division of Workers' Compensation regulates the workers' compensation system in Texas, ensuring injured workers receive the necessary benefits to quickly return to work, and that workers' compensation costs are kept at a reasonable level for Texas employers. Brannan replaces Rod Bordelon, who is leaving the post after nearly six years at the helm.
