On 7/19  the Senate took up sunset legislation on second reading and passed both SB 20 (V. Taylor) & SB 60 (V. Taylor), to third reading. The chamber then announced they would reconvene one minute after midnight to vote the bills out of the chamber. When they did reconvene on 7/20 shortly after midnight they proceeded to pass both sunset bills out of Senate and began working on other items on the call. Following the reading of the supplemental call they referred 29 bills to committee.

The supplemental call was expanded to include TRS-Cares and "other legislation relating to the school finance system," including ASATR.

The Senate also suspended rules and announced several upcoming hearings starting on Friday. Updates and further details on the hearings can be found on the HillCo Legislative News page as soon as the notice is posted. 

House Update
The House Committee on State Affairs on 7/19 unanimously voted out HB 1 (Gonzales), sunset legislation.
 
The House Committee on Appropriations will meet on Tuesday, July 25 to take up HB 2 (Gonzales) relating to the funding of certain governmental entities subject to abolishment on September 1, 2017. The committee will also discuss an update on 1115 Waiver renewal and CHIP reauthorization & potential impacts related to federal action to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act. (invited testimony only)  

The House will reconvene at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 20  
The Senate will reconvene at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 24
