House
- House Speaker Joe Straus was re-elected by House members.
- Gov. Perry gave his final address to a Joint Session of the Texas Legislature on Thursday, January 15.
- The House adopted HR 4, the Rules Resolution on Thursday, January 15.
- Some of the adopted amendments were:
- Dates and times of the House meetings must be recorded according to time on clock of record, and
- Energy Resources Commission will have jurisdiction over endangered species issues relating to energy resources.
- The House released its budget, budget summary and summary tables.
- Additional House Interim reports were released.
- The House will reconvene on Tuesday, January 20 at 9:30am.
Senate
- Sen. Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa, D-McAllen elected President Pro Tempore of the Senate by members. The job allows its occupant to preside as governor when the governor and lieutenant governor are out of state.
- The Senate will reconvene on Tuesday, January 20 at 11:00am.
